Who We Are

Our Story

Our Story

Founded to transform how higher‐level mental health care is delivered, Banyan Mental Health offers non‐traumatizing, bottom‐up therapy rooted in lived experience. We believe in compassionate, strengths‐based approaches for individuals with complex PTSD, dissociative disorders, borderline personality disorder, eating disorders, and beyond.

“Banyan addresses critical gaps in today’s healthcare, especially for those dealing with chronic suicidal ideation, dissociation, emotional dysregulation, or extreme abuse. By normalizing bodily stress responses and reducing shame, our programs foster resilience, empower recovery, and reconnect people with their innate strengths.”

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide non‐traumatizing, strengths‐based mental health care without unnecessary labeling. By emphasizing the body’s role in healing and reducing shame around trauma responses, we build on each person’s innate capacities. Through our Intensive Outpatient (IOP) and Partial Hospitalization (PHP) programs, we aim to bridge critical gaps in traditional treatment and foster genuine, long‐lasting recovery.

Our Vision

Our vision is to redefine higher‐level mental health care, becoming a recognized leader in trauma‐informed, bottom‐up treatment. We will continue expanding specialized programs, including perinatal mental health and neurodivergence, while shifting the field away from stigma and toward evidence‐based compassion. Ultimately, we aim for a future where safety, empathy, and personal empowerment are the hallmarks of every treatment experience.

Proven approaches for lasting recovery

At Banyan, we use Trauma Treatment Focused Principles that prioritize safety, trustworthiness, collaboration, peer support, empowerment, and cultural awareness. This framework ensures every individual is met with non‐judgmental care and has a voice in shaping their treatment.

Our Values

At Banyan, we embrace five core values that guide every aspect of our work: Compassion, Integrity, Community Collaboration, Excellence in Care, and Advocacy & Education.

Compassion means recognizing the dignity in every individual; Integrity involves transparent, ethical practice; Community Collaboration fosters strong partnerships to expand access; Excellence in Care compels us to deliver the highest quality, non‐traumatizing interventions; and Advocacy & Education ensures we continue to transform the landscape of mental health.

Our Leadership

Aimee McCann, MSW, LISW-S
Founder & CEO

With extensive clinical training and lived experience, Aimee established Banyan to address the lack of higher‐level care for people facing chronic suicidal ideation, dissociation, and attachment trauma. She has witnessed firsthand how non‐traumatizing, body‐oriented approaches can reduce suffering and reconnect individuals to their own strengths. Under Aimee’s leadership, Banyan blends evidence‐based protocols with trauma‐informed principles – creating a supportive, collaborative environment for both clients and staff.
